If you would like to volunteer for any of the
Florida FIRST LEGO League opportunities, please read the following
before you decide to register below.
- Knowledge of FIRST programs is required for many positions -
Especially Gracious Professionalism
- Robotics or Research Experience is required for all judging and
referee positions
- All positions are 8 hours or more
- The tournaments are high energy with music and announcements
similar to a High School Basketball game. Some may find the mayhem
not comfortable.
The Florida
FLL Championship event is scheduled for February 27-28, 2010 at the Clemente
Center in Melbourne. The 27th is only for setup, no teams (unless they
are volunteers.)
FIRST
events are an exciting and fun-filled opportunity to see youth in action,
applying the knowledge and skills developed through team participation. Each
competition event depends on an abundance of volunteers with a broad
spectrum of talents to support operating needs and competition demands. The
Florida Championship event requires a 1-2 day volunteer commitment for a
number of positions. Our event needs over 100 volunteers to make it a
success.
There are 2 major groupings of volunteers, Judges and Event Staff.
Judges meet with teams in a quiet room to review their progress
through the season and evaluate how they do
in the following areas:
Robot Hardware -- how well is the
robot designed, is it robust, innovative, etc
Robot Software -- how well is the software designed
Teamwork -- how effectively does the team work together
Research Presentation -- The topic for research project is Transportation
of objects, people or data.
The Event Staff takes
care of all other aspects of the championship event.
If you fit the above, please continue to the following page to sign
